Brodie Kostecki set to shake down new-for-2026 Ford Mustang
Kostecki to debut new DJR Ford at Ipswich shakedown next week
Shell V-Power Racing Team to unveil livery on Sunday
Brodie Kostecki is in line to shake down a new Dick Johnson Racing Ford Mustang next week, ahead of its debut in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.
Kostecki raced two different chassis since joining DJR, with a change coming after his major Gold Coast qualifying crash last October.
The 2023 champion started last season in DJRS-07-MR, which was damaged in a major qualifying accident on the Saturday of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
The West Aussie driver then moved into DJRS-08-MR for the last two rounds of 2025. DJRS-08-MR was initially raced by Will Davison, who shifted into an older chassis, DJRS-06.
The latest Kostecki chassis, marked DJRS-09-MR, was initially built by Erebus Motorsport and set to be brought online by Blanchard Racing Team last season.
However, BRT never debuted the car, which was sold and marked DJRS-09-MR by DJR.
Kostecki is set to shake down his new Ford at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday (February 2), amid a spate of new car shakedowns from other teams.
As it stands, Kostecki will be one of nine drivers debuting a brand-new car at the season-opening Sydney 500 in three weeks' time, five of which will be brand new Mustangs.
Triple Eight will build three new cars for Will Brown, Broc Feeney, and SCT Motorsport's Jackson Walls, whilst Penrite Racing will also debut a new car for Matt Payne, whose Bathurst-winning chassis has been retired.
There will also be four brand-new chassis underpinning Toyota GR Supras, with Walkinshaw TWG Racing building cars for reigning champion Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood, and Brad Jones Racing doing likewise for Andre Heimgartner and Cameron Hill.
Macauley Jones takes over a chassis built new for Heimgartner last year, but with it's Chevrolet body panels and engine replaced by Supra panels and Toyota's 5.2L 2UR-GSE V8 engine.
DJRS-07-MR is currently being repaired by fabricator James White, who has been building and repairing Erebus chassis for several years.
DJR rookie Rylan Gray, meanwhile, has been allocated DJRS-08-MR, which won the 2025 Adelaide opener at the hands of Kostecki in November.
The 2025 Super2 champion is also in line to get a rookie test under his belt in his Mustang in the second week of February, also at Queensland Raceway.
Erebus Motorsport will run a rookie day for Jobe Stewart at The Bend on Monday (February 2), whilst 2024 Super2 champion Zach Bates will get his first laps with Matt Stone Racing at a rookie day on Tuesday, February 10 at Queensland Raceway.
All 24 cars will hit the track at the mandatory Destination NSW Test Day on Wednesday February 18 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Before then, DJR will reveal their 2026 liveries at a free fan event at their Stapylton workshop on Sunday. The recipient of the famed #17 will also be revealed at that event.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the opening round in Sydney on February 20-22. Tickets are on sale now.
