Qualifying performance once again hurts Will Brown
Crucial error sees reigning champion qualify 14th for Race 17
Lack of speed sees Brown start 17th for Race 18
Will Brown's 2025 qualifying woes have continued at the betr Darwin Triple Crown, with the reigning champion set to start in the midfield for both of today's 120km sprint races.
Although the Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaros haven't been as dominant as we'd come to expect at Hidden Valley, however both Brown and Broc Feeney were comfortably up the front during Friday practice.
However, Race 17 Qualifying could prove to be a pivotal moment in the race for the Repco Sprint Cup, with Brown entering the weekend 72 points behind his teammate after Feeney has gone on a six-race tear across Tasmania and Perth.
However come the end of the first segment of qualifying, and Brown was buried in 14th, failing to progress to the second segment for the top 10 cars in another disappointing qualifying performance.
"Yeah I just made a mistake at the hairpin really, my own fault which is a bit disappointing," revealed Brown.
"Another bad qualifying from me, but we'll try and bounce back for the next one."
Things only went from bad to worse for Brown in Race 18 Qualifying, with the #1 Camaro set to start the second race of the day well back in 17th on the grid.
"We bolted those Super Softs on, and I felt like it was an ok lap, but we were just nowhere, we're P17. It's obviously changing it up putting those different tyres on, you're not quite sure what you're going to get.
"Broc's been doing a really good job, got to have a look at what he's doing, obviously another great qualifying performance by him."
"Just didn't feel like we had it in that one, so we've got a fair few cars to pass this afternoon."
Further compounding matters, Feeney claimed his seventh and eight Boost Mobile Pole Awards of the season this morning, strengthening his charge towards a guaranteed Finals berth as the Sprint Cup champion.
Feeney was still unhappy with his personal performance despite the improvement in car balance day-on-day, which has also seen him progress to the second portion of Race 18 Qualifying
"The team has done a fantastic job, as I said I wasn't too comfortable last night and Marty did a great job to get this thing back on fire so the driver just needs to tune himself a little bit, and hopefully we can go again," said Feeney after claiming the Boost Mobile Pole Award for Race 17.
