Team 18 cop second fine in as many days
Judicial camera on David Reynolds' Camaro non-operational during Race 19 Qualifying
Breach comes after parc fermé breach committed on sister car in Race 17 Qualifying
Team 18 have been hit with their second fine in as many days following a regulation breach on David Reynolds' Camaro during Boost Mobile Qualifying for Race 19 this morning in Darwin.
Reynolds qualified 20th for this afternoon's 200km finale, and retains that position on the grid, however his #20 Camaro was found to have a non-operational judicial camera.
Whilst there was no incident involving Reynolds during qualifying, judicial cameras must be operational during any Supercars session.
As such, Team 18 have been fined $2 000 for the breach in regulations, adding to a difficult weekend off track.
The team was fined $500 yesterday after after the team breached parc fermé conditions following Anton De Pasquale's elimination from Race 17 Qualifying.
A front-left wheel temperature reading was taken on De Pasquale's #18 Camaro, constituting a breach of regulations.
Read below for the full steward's report in regards to the judicial camera breach on Reynolds' Camaro this morning:
Fact: The Judicial Camera in Car 20 was non-operational for Race 19 Qualifying
Rule: D21.3.1 Cars must carry a fully operational digital video camera and recording device, video streaming device etc that may be required to ensure full functionality of the Judicial In-Car Camera system in all Sessions.
Decision: The Stewards impose a penalty $2, 000 to WFL Racing Pty Ltd.
Reason: The Stewards reviewed a report that Supercars Technical has submitted to the DRD which stated Car 20's Judicial Camera was non-operational during the Qualifying session for Race 19.
The Stewards summonsed and heard from the Competitor's Authorised Representative (AR). The AR admitted to the Stewards that the Team was aware of the issue prior to the Session commencing. They advised the Team had tried to rectify the issue by changing SD cards but acknowledged that this did not rectify it. He informed the Stewards that the Team have not found the source of the issue as yet. The AR admitted that the non-operational camera during a Session amounts to a breach of the Rules.
The Stewards note that while Car 20 was not involved in an Incident, nor was the judicial footage required for any investigation; an operational judicial in-car camera is vital for the sporting integrity of the Championship. As such, the Stewards impose a fine on the Competitor for this breach.
