Richie Stanaway, PremiAir Racing part ways immediately
2023 Bathurst winner's season cut short, two rounds from the end
Stanaway joined PremiAir in 2025, has four top 10s in 28 races
PremiAir Racing has announced a late-season shock, cutting ties with Richie Stanaway for the remainder of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship.
Confirmed just days after the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, the New Zealander will not contest the final two rounds of the season.
Stanaway joined PremiAir Racing at the beginning of the year from Penrite Racing. However, the 2025 season hasn't gone to plan for Stanaway, who sits 22nd in the championship through 11 rounds.
Stanaway, the 2023 Bathurst winner, has recorded four top 10 finishes in 28 completed races, and four DNFs.
PremiAir Racing announced prior to last weekend's Gold Coast event that Jayden Ojeda and Declan Fraser were in for 2026, replacing Stanaway and Blanchard Racing Team-bound James Golding.
In the wake of the news, Stanaway told Supercars.com he would look to pursue a co-drive for next season, and was determined to finish 2025 on a high. However, after a promising run was cut short in the Gold Coast finale, Stanaway's season has now been sensationally cut short two rounds from home.
In a team statement, PremiAir said it will confirm Stanaway's replacement driver in coming days, with Ojeda and Fraser in the frame for early debuts.
"PremiAir Racing wishes to advise that, following discussions with Richie Stanaway after the Gold Coast 500, he will step away from the team with immediate effect, bringing his time with PremiAir Racing to an early conclusion," the statement reads.
"As previously outlined prior to the Gold Coast event, Richie was set to depart the team at the end of the 2025 season following the decision not to take up the 2026 option on his contract. That announcement also confirmed that PremiAir Racing would welcome Jayden Ojeda and Declan Fraser as its two full-time drivers for the 2026 season.
"The team will confirm Richie’s replacement driver for the remaining 2025 events in the coming days. This decision will ensure continuity while maintaining our focus on building strong momentum into next season.
"PremiAir Racing thanks Richie for his efforts during his time with the team and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors."
The 2025 season resumes at the Semi Final at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on November 14-16. Tickets for the Semi Final are on sale now.
