Perth Saturday incidents unrelated after investigations
Ryan Wood, Cooper Murray suffered unrelated failures in Race 15
Jaxon Evans suffered failure caused by a jammed wheel nut
Three failures during Saturday’s second race in Perth have been found to be unrelated after investigations.
Saturday’s second race at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 featured three incidents for Ryan Wood, Cooper Murray and Jaxon Evans.
Supercars informed teams overnight that all three incidents were isolated and, after investigations, unrelated.
Notably, the two failures to suspension on Wood and Murray’s cars were on different parts.
Supercars encouraged standard checks to be undertaken to parts before Sunday’s action, which will be headlined by a 200km, 83-lap race.
The three failures on Saturday occurred midway through the 50-lap afternoon race.
The highest profile incident was for Walkinshaw Andretti United's Wood, who suffered a left-rear failure while leading the race. Per a technical report sent to teams, the failure originated at the weld.
Erebus Motorsport rookie Murray’s failure was adjudged to be related to contact with another car, with the left-rear rod-end failing on the lower control arm.
Brad Jones Racing's Evans, meanwhile, suffered a right-rear failure, which was caused by a jammed wheel nut that hadn’t been fully sealed.
The Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 will conclude with the 200km Race 16 at 3:15pm local/5:15pm AEST.
