Live Pit Lane: Tickford clings onto second, BJR jumps MSR

A rollercoaster betr Darwin Triple Crown has set up more potential changes to the pit lane order, with Tickford Racing now clinging onto second.

A resurgent Penrite Racing sits just 25 points behind Ford rivals Tickford heading to the NTI Townsville 500, with Matt Payne and Kai Allen both among the podiums at Hidden Valley.

While Red Bull Ampol Racing has cleared out to a staggering 776-point lead, Tickford is only ahead of Penrite Racing courtesy of a Saturday points penalty for the latter.

The Grove squad was hit with a 30-point penalty over a pit infringement on Saturday, and would have overtaken Tickford. Tickford had its own problems, Cam Waters losing a wheel on Sunday.

Walkinshaw Andretti United remains fourth, but is now 231 points behind Penrite Racing. Ryan Wood suffered an engine-related DNF in the first Darwin race, and as Payne and Allen scored silverware, Chaz Mostert's sixth in the first race was WAU's best effort.

The movers were Brad Jones Racing and Erebus Motorsport, which jumped Matt Stone Racing and Blanchard Racing Team respectively to jump up one position.

BJR, remarkably, is only 74 points behind fifth-placed Shell V-Power Racing Team, but only 29 points ahead of MSR.

Erebus, meanwhile, benefited from a strong Sunday for Jack Le Brocq to leap ahead of BJR's second crew and BRT. Heading to Townsville, Erebus is now just 145 points behind PremiAir Racing.

Drivers will vie for three wins in Townsville, which will host a championship race on the Friday for the first time.
