James Courtney reveals meaningful nod to final Supercars season
2010 champion to run throwback helmets during 20th and final season
Courtney to complete second season with Blanchard Racing Team
James Courtney will celebrate his final full-time Supercars season with a series of throwback helmets in 2025.
The 2025 season will be Courtney’s 20th and last as a solo driver in the Repco Supercars Championship, nearly two decades on from his 2006 debut with Stone Brothers Racing.
Courtney, the 2010 series champion, inadvertently announced his retirement in July last year, revealing the news in a TV interview.
While he left the door open for another full-time deal with the Blanchard Racing Team, Courtney has since confirmed 2025 will indeed be his last.
On the eve of the forthcoming season, Courtney took to social media to reveal his helmet plans for his “last full-time lap” in Supercars.
The first throwback helmet pays tribute to Courtney's 2014 Adelaide 500 victory, his first of two consecutive Adelaide wins while racing with the Holden Racing Team.
“I’ve decided to bring back some of my favourite and most meaningful helmet designs for my final full-time season,” the 15-time race winner wrote.
“It’s an honour to have [ClearRoute], [Shaw and Partners], [Snowy River Carvans], [Boost Mobile], [Southern Cross Truck Rentals], and [EFS Solar] with me for this last full-time lap.
"Let’s make it one to remember.”
The Sydney-born, Gold Coast-based driver is set to bring up 600 Supercars races this season, joining Craig Lowndes, Garth Tander and Mark Winterbottom in the exclusive club.
Courtney will again be paired with Aaron Love at BRT in 2025, with the new season to commence in Sydney on February 21-23.
