An opening lap mishap has seen an exciting Dunlop Series race unfold at the Winton 360.

Championship leader Dale Wood got a huge jump off the start as chaos ensued behind. Several cars, including Taz Douglas, Adam Wallis and Andre Heimgartner were involved in the incident, which Chris Pither was handed a penalty for.

But it was Casey Stoner who came off worst as his Red Bull Racing Australia Commodore had to be towed back to pit lane.

Late in the race others found the mud, but Wood kept control and steered home to take the win and a nice haul of points toward his Championship.

In behind were pole sitter Jack Perkins and yesterday’s quickest Andrew Jones.

The second race will be a reverse grid for the top 10 – meaning Luke Youlden (10th and Geoff Emery (ninth) will begin on the front row.
