Waters takes pole for race one

The dominance of Cameron Waters has continued this morning in qualifying, taking ARMOR ALL Pole Position for this afternoon's 18-lapper.

The Prodrive Racing Australia young gun eclipsed the quickest time from group one's qualifying on his first fast lap, taking pole with a 1min24.24.

His pole-achieving time was also over three tenths quicker than his fastest time from yesterday's qualifying, and the 20-year-old was elated with his speed.

"It's been awesome all weekend," he said.

"The car rolled out really strong and we obviously wen't really well in Perth, so hopefully we can do the same thing this weekend."

Waters was 0.19secs ahead of Brad Jones Racing's Andrew Jones, who will start race one from second on the grid.

Jack Le Brocq's recent front-running form continued into qualifying this morning, securing third place ahead of teammates Chris Pither and Simon Evans in fourth and fifth respectively.

Reinging champion Paul Dumbrell continued to struggle with his Eggleston Motorsport Commodore and will start the race from sixth on the grid.

Rookies Jesse Dixon and James Golding will complete the fourth row of the grid and will be followed by Eggleston Motorsport duo Garry Jacobson and Ant Pedersen in ninth and tenth respectively.

Macauely Jones was just outside the ten in 11th spot, ahead of Todd Hazelwood who was the quickest from group one qualifying.

Josh Kean will start in 13th after venturing off the circuit at the sweeper in the dying stages of group one qualifying.

Matt Stone Racing's Shae Davies was 14th quickest, while youngest ever V8 Supercars Dunlop Series driver Kurt Kostecki was 20th.

Race one for the Dunlop Series will kick off at 3.40pm local time.
