Cameron Waters has sealed the first win of the 2015 V8 Supercars Dunlop Series with a lights-to-flag victory in his PRA ENZED Falcon at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

The 19-year-old led reigning champion Paul Dumbrell to the chequered flag, despite the former Bathurst winner being relegated back five spots to start the race in eighth due to an infringement in yesterday's qualifying session.

MW Motorsport's Chris Pither rounded out the podium after the kiwi lost his second place to a charging Dumbrell.

The first race of the season was interrupted on lap 11 when Brett Hobson speared into the wall front-first on the exit of the chicanes, triggering the safety car.

His Commodore was hindered by steering damage from contact with the turn two kerb, sending the R-Sport racer into the fence at high speed.

The safety car intervention saw the race become time certain, with one lap left to complete after the safety car left the circuit.

Eggleston Motorsport drivers Ant Pederson and Garry Jacobson came home in fourth and fifth respectively, followed by Aaren Russell, Jack Le Brocq and Andrew Jones.

Todd Hazelwood and Shae Davies completed the top ten, with Davies the first rookie home.

Fellow rookie Jesse Dixon finished his maiden race on the fringes of the top ten in 11th, while girl racers Renee Gracie and Chelsea Angelo were 21st and 22nd respectively.

The Dunlop Series will return to the Adelaide Parklands circuit for Race 2 tomorrow at 11.40am ADST at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
