As Cameron Waters edged the field again in final practice, Paul Morris endured a fiery start to the weekend whenhis car burst into flames in the dying stages of the 40-minute session.

V8supercars.com.au understands the #67 entry blew a tail shaft at the last turn, which subsequently burst the oil line and sent the Falcon up in smoke.

'The Dude' immediately made his way into pit lane where he was met by crews trying to extinguish the flames. He iscurrently being attended to at the medical centre.

Oil residue was spilt over the track as a result of the incident, which caught out Brad Jones Racing's Andrew Jones and Macauley Jones on their way to pit lane, getting stuck in the gravel trap at turn six.

Meanwhile, Waters fast time of a 1min10.69 saw him claim the top spot for the second time today, beating out Jack le Brocq by .6 seconds.

Garry Jacobson rounded out the top three quickest and was followed by Todd Hazelwood, who held the top spot for the session's majority.

Paul Dumbrell was fifth quickest, ahead of Chris Pither and Jesse Dixon.

Ant Pedersen, Morris and Andrew Jones rounded out the top ten.

James Golding was just outside the top ten in 11th, while Shae Davies and Aaren Russell were 12th and 13th respectively.

Simon Evans was 14th quickest as he made his Queensland Raceway debut, ahead of Macauley Jones in 15th.

The Dunlop Series will qualify for race one tomorrow at 10.30am.
