ENZED FPR driver Cameron Waters topped both Dunlop Series practice sessions at the Winton 400 today.

The young gun held off series leader Eggleston Motorsport’s Paul Dumbrell by 0.1921sec with his 1min24.7456 lap in the 40-minute final run around the 3km circuit.

"Today could not have gone any better,” Waters said.

“To top both practice sessions is a perfect start and I am feeling very confident about the rest of the weekend.

“We made very few changes to the car and although we didn't do a huge amount of laps we got through our program as we needed to.

“I'm looking forward to getting out there again tomorrow and making amends for the last race in Adelaide."

Waters was on-track for a win at the season opening Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, but a late race incident with Ash Walsh was costly.

In today’s final practice session, Andrew Jones followed third, with Michael Haber and Chris Pither completing the top five.

During the first session, the Dunlop Series cars were almost four seconds off last year’s pace, sealant in the track being picked up by the tyres. But in the final session, in drying conditions, the cars were just one second away from last year’s ARMOR ALL Pole Position time.

The Dunlop Series will qualify in the morning, in two groups, to determine the grid for the first race, which runs between the two V8 Supercars races at 3.15pm local time.
