Mouzouris' reason for making permanent number change

Super2 driver Angelo Mouzouris has revealed a permanent change to his race number ahead of the Winton SuperSprint in honour his late friend Adam Pasek.

Mouzouris, who is in his second season of the Dunlop Super2 Series with Triple Eight Race Engineering, will change the number on his Holden VF Commodore from #10 to #6.

The shift will occur from the second round of the Super2 season at Winton Motor Raceway.

The 2019 Formula Ford champion decided to make the change as a tribute to Pasek who passed away in March.

“I changed my number after a late mate I raced with and grew up with him in go-karts for almost 10 years ago passed away last month,” Mouzouris told Supercars.com.

“He used to race with that number and so I wanted to change mine out of respect for him.

“He said ages ago when I was racing in Formula Ford that I should change it to number six, I never thought much about it then, but now I have done it.”

The 19-year-old completed testing at Queensland Raceway earlier this week with Triple Eight Super2 team-mate Broc Feeney and mentor Craig Lowndes.

It’s the first time the teammates have returned to the seats since the opening round at Mount Panorama, seeing Mouzouris claim his maiden Super2 pole and podium.

“We got back in the momentum after the massive gap from Bathurst,” Mouzouris said.

“Craig came down which was really great of him to do.

“I focussed on some race runs which are a weakness of mine, so working on strengthening that and moving forward to Winton, we hope to be pretty quick.”

Next weekend’s Winton event marks the first time the series has visited the circuit since 2015 and Mouzouris’ first racing a Super2 car.

Feeney and Mouzouris are placed second and fourth in the standings, 18 and 36 points respectively behind leader Zak Best of Tickford Racing.

The Dunlop Super2 Series field will return to Victoria for the Winton SuperSprint across May 28-30. Tickets are available here.

The event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo with highlights on 7 and 7 Plus. Check out the weekend schedule here.
