The 2021 Mike Kable Award winner finished his maiden season fifth in the standings, recording four top 10 results.

A bass guitarist for Melbourne band The Crookeds away from racing, the 25-year-old is looking to continue his stirring run in the development series.

“I’m super excited to be racing again with Eggleston Motorsport for 2022,” McLean told Supercars.com.

“We ticked all of our goals for the 2021 season, so now we have bigger goals for 2022.

“Hopefully I can win the series outright this year and do everything I can to put myself in the best position to step up to the Supercars Championship in 2023.

“I want to make it into the main game in time for Gen3, it's super exciting stuff, but we want to do our best in Super2 in 2022.

“Eggleston Motorsport is a wonderful place to be and it feels like home for me, so I can’t thank them enough for their continued support.

“The team is a great place to be for breeding successful drivers, we have seen young drivers such as Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown come through the team and only recently gone to the main game and had success quickly.

“For me to look at guys like that and see how well they have gone, especially being so fresh out of Eggleston, is a good thing for me.”

Eggleston Motorsport co-owner and manager Rachael Eggleston added: “We are really excited that Matt will remain in the EMS family for season 2022.”

“Super2 is usually a minimum two-year program so this was always the overall goal for both Matt and the team, but it’s always great to get it locked away so we can plan for a bigger and better season!

“Matt certainly took a lot of people by surprise when he hit the track at Round 1 last season and was the stand-out Rookie.

“We ticked off our three main goals which were to claim the Rookie of the Year, take out the prestigious Mike Kable Young Gun Award again as we did with Will Brown in 2017 and finish in the top five overall in the championship.

“Our goal this year is to be an outright title contender. There is no reason why we can’t be, and like anything it’s a lot of hard work and dedication and that started as soon as the flag dropped after Bathurst last year.

“We are really looking forward to working with Matt and building on the foundations set in 2021 and can’t wait to hit the track in February for testing ahead of Round 1”

The 2022 Dunlop Series season will commence in March at the Repco Newcastle 500.

The six-round draft calendar was released during the Repco Bathurst 1000 weekend.
