Pither breaks through in final race

Chris Pither has broken through for his maiden win of the 2015 season, claiming the final V8 Supercars Dunlop Series race at the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint.

The kiwi drove to victory from pole position after he was promoted to the first grid spot whenrace two winner Cameron Waters wasrelegated 10 grid spots for a driving infringement in the previous race.

The win saw Pither close his Queensland Raceway campaign fourth for the round - a result he was happy with after a difficult start to the weekend - while he becomes the third race winner this season.

"I'm absolutely rapt for the Ice Break Racing team and MW motorsport, they've done an awesome job" Pither said after his race victory.

"The car wasn't great at the start of the weekend and we suffered in qualifying as a result.

"Obviously we got a little bit of help to move up the grid in that race but we had the speed to be there in the end.

"I'm just stoked for the whole team,"

After the harsh penalty, Waters managed to recover eight spots to finish third behind Paul Dumbrell and claim the round victory.

Dumbrell was second for the round, with Jack Le Brocq completing the round podium after finishing this afternoon's 19-lapper in fifth.

Andrew Jones made up aspot in the race to finish sixth, followed by Simon Evans and Garry Jacobson.

Todd Hazelwood endured a difficult 19 laps, recovering to finish ninth after he was pushed off the track in the opening laps, while Jesse Dixon rounded out the top ten.

Garry Rogers Motorsport prodigy James Golding was dealt a pit lane penalty after an aggressive move on Josh Kean at turn one sent the Brad Jones Racing pilot into a spin, ending the race in 18th while Golding finished a lap down.

Waters continues his series lead by 173points to Dumbrell in second after the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint,with Le Brocq in third.
