It was a carbon copy of the start from the earlier V8 Supercars race. ARMOR ALL Pole Position sitter GB Galvanising/Wilson Security's Dale Wood was slow off the line, Jack Perkins alongside getting the jump.

And four cars into turn one did not go, as Cameron Waters and Geoff Emery fired off the track. Waters launched into the air, mud and water flying, before rejoining after turn two, but managed to finish in 11th.

This time the action played into Casey Stoner’s hands – a great start meant the former MotoGP Champion went from 30th on the grid to 18th and eventually finished 16th at the end of the 12-lap race.

Perkins led from start to finish, Wood holding second and Andrew Jones – who set the fastest lap of the race, a 1min25.3568sec – was third.

Wood wins the round having accumulated 266 Championship points, with Perkins and Jones also making it onto the podium for overall results.

All three will participate at the next V8 Supercars event, the Wilson Security Sandown 500, as co-drivers for Chaz Mostert, Scott McLaughlin and Jason Bright.
