Penalties aplenty from Dunlop Series qualifying

Significant penalties have been handed down after yesterday's V8 Supercars Dunlop Series qualifying session at the Clipsal 500.

2014 Champion Paul Dumbrell will lose five grid spots after he was deemed to have set his fast lap under yellow flags. That reduces the Eggleston Motorsport driver from third on the grid to eighth.

Meanwhile Brad Jones Racing's three Commodores have been excluded from the session, after a technical breaches involvingbrakes. The cars were also investigated and penalised for a breach involving tyres,which would have incurred loss of five grid spots.

Andrew Jones was the top qualifier of the three, sitting in fourth position, with Josh Kean eighth and Macauley Jones 14th in his first run at the Adelaide street circuit.

They will start at the rear of grid, in the order determined by their fastest practice times.

The means, behind pole man Cameron Waters and second-placed Chris Pither, Garry Jacobson is elevated to the second row, along with Taz Douglas.

Ant Pedersen, Jack Le Brocq, Todd Hazelwood, Shae Davies, Aaren Russell and Brett Hobson complete the new top 10.

The V8 Supercars Dunlop Series races this afternoon at 5.40pm local time, running 19 laps around the treacherous street circuit.
