Steve Owen has topped qualifying ahead of this afternoon’s Dunlop Series race.

Owen, who was a last minute addition to the MW Motorsport #27 Falcon for this event, recorded a 1min22.969 lap around 3km Winton Raceway, holding off closest rival Cameron Waters by just 0.13sec.

Waters and his ENZED FPR Falcon topped both practice sessions yesterday and will start on the front row for the 25-lap race, alongside the East Coast Traffic Control FG.

Morgan Haber ran third, with Andrew Jones, Ant Pedersen, Ash Walsh, series leader and Clipsal 500 round winner Paul Dumbrell, Andre Heimgartner, Chris Pither and Paul Morris qualifying inside the top 10.

Garry Jacobson was quickest in the first half on Dunlop Series cars – this year’s format sees the qualifying session split in two, so all cars have a good chance of recording a fast lap. But he was knocked back to 12th after the top cars from yesterday hit the track.

The race is scheduled between the two V8 Supercars races this afternoon, beginning at 3.15pm local time. Click here for current Championship standings.
