Newcomer Elly Morrow says she is “becoming comfortable” following her first practice sessions in a Super2 car.

Morrow made her Super2 debut with Brad Jones Racing at Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday.

The 22-year-old has made the leap from the Super3 category.

Friday’s opening session marked the karting ace’s first wet running in her BJR Commodore.

Passing showers made for tricky conditions at the Eastern Creek circuit, with red flags punctuating both sessions.

Morrow finished 14th in the first incident-packed practice event, topped by Matt McLean.

The second red-flagged-ridden practice session saw Morrow slip to 16th.

Despite the challenging conditions, Morrow was left beaming.

“I think we've made gains throughout the day,” Morrow told Supercars.com.

“I think we've got a good baseline for when it rains, as it’s a question of when not if it rains.

“I’m starting to feel pretty comfortable, obviously it’s my first day driving the car in the wet.

“We had a few moments like everyone else did, but just kept it on the track and learned from the experience.

“We will sit down and have the discussion [about changes] tonight.

“Everything hasn't really sunk in yet.

“There's been lots of going on, but we will just look at it and see what I can work on, see what we can work on.”

Cars will return to the track for ARMOR ALL Qualifying at 2:00pm AEDT on Saturday. CLICK HERE to view the race schedule.
