Dunlop Series - Qualifying Highlights Sandown

Prodrive sensation Garry Jacobson has taken a last minute ARMOR ALL Pole Position in Dunlop Series Qualifying at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 this morning.

Jacobson claimed his second pole of the season with just under a minute remaining in the session ahead of championship leading teammate Jack Le Brocq.

He stormed to the top finishing with a lap record time of 1.09.73seconds.

Teammate Jack Le Brocq’s Go Getta Ford Falcon FG X also demonstrated impressive speed on-track just 0.03 seconds behind Jacobson. The pair both finished under the old lap record time.

The Prodrive pair have locked out the front row of the grid once again, proving to be a dominant force in the Supercars Dunlop Series standings.

This weekend’s racing is crucial for the Prodrive duo with just 51 points separating Jacobson from Le Brocq in the lead.

Matt Stone Racing’s Todd Hazelwood is mixing it with the front runners, running a few personal best lap times and qualifying with a best lap time of 1.09.8seconds.

Shae Davies is making the most of double duties this weekend, maximising his track time and proving the ability to deliver fast lap times. Davies finished P4 in Qualifying just 0.2 seconds off P1.

Dumbrell, Golding and Andrew Jones are also looking comfortable on-track in the Dunlop Series, performing double duties with an enduro co-drive under their belt.

Taz Douglas went for an off-track excursion into the soggy grass at turn one early in the session. Teammate Liam Mcadam went off in sympathy with him also but both drivers recovered and rejoined the circuit.

Renee Gracie hit the gravel trap at turn one, spinning the Caltex Ford off track with just minutes remaining in the session.

This morning’s conditions on-track improved significantly from yesterdays practice. The track is quick and looks like a great day ahead for some fast racing.
