Conditions on-track were wet to begin with, and slowly dried until a further sprinkle in the closing minutes.

Eggleston Motorsport's Paul Dumbrell was first to set a fast lap time with a 1.21.34s as the water cleared, but elected to pit with 22 minutes remaining and fell to sixth in the order.

Jacobson's team-mate Josh Kean was also on the pace, finishing just 0.0629 seconds adrift in the difficult conditions.

Paul Morris Motorsport's De Pasquale was third, after topping the timesheets for a significant part of the session.

Bryce Fullwood and Richard Muscat claimed fourth and fifth in the closing minutes, ahead of Dumbrell and championship leader Todd Hazelwood.

Super2 rookies Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown were eighth and ninth, while Shae Davies rounded out the top 10.

Qualifying at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 will be held at 10:20am on Saturday, before the opening race at 3:15pm.
