James Golding jumped to the top of the Dunlop Series field with the fastest time in Practice One at the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400.

Golding led the second half of the session, ahead of Jack Le Brocq session securing the fastest time with a 1min.15.4sec lap.

Le Brocq hung on, trailing along behind Golding by 0.03sec, in an attempt to take the break ahead of rival teammate Garry Jacobson.

Jacobson struggled to remain consistent throughout the first practice session, dropping from position one in the first five minutes, to ultimately finish fifth overall with his 1min15.7 lap time. His result left him three spots behind Le Brocq, who he is tied with on points heading into this weekend's racing.

The hot inter-team rivalry continues this weekend with Le Brocq proving to be quicker this morning on-track.

Le Brocq showed up a quick flyer with 14 minutes to go, seeing him jump five positions and remain in position two for the remainder of the session.

Golding is proving to be tough competition for the pair – he was ahead in the session and is 63 points behind in the title fight in third.
