MW Motorsport ace Bryce Fullwood has a nervous wait ahead of him as his Dunlop Super2 Series victory at Bathurst is put under the microscope.

Fullwood was the class of the field in the 250km Saturday race, controlling proceedings from start to finish to lead home Thomas Randle by 13.2942 seconds.

However, the Nissan driver is at the centre of a post-race investigation for failing to obey yellow flags.

The incident in question occurred on the final lap, with Ash Walsh’s Matt Stone Racing Commodore buried in the gravel at The Chase after a collision with Jordan Boys.

Fullwood proceeded to set the fastest lap of the race – and a new Super2 race lap record, smashing Paul Dumbrell’s 2015 benchmark by a tenth and a half – with a 2:06.5888s effort.

The 21-year-old was unaware he was under investigation when he spoke with media after the race and no outcome has been confirmed by CAMS as yet.

“Oh yeah I guess so,” Fullwood told Supercars.com when asked if he had a nervous wait on his hands.

“I mean I had absolutely no idea, I heard nothing over the radio or anything like that so we’ll just have to see what happens.

“But yeah, even if something happens and one of those boys finishes [winning], I think it’s still fairly clear who won that race and who was most dominant.”

If Fullwood is demoted, Randle would be in line to take the race victory in a remarkable turnaround after the Tickford Racing protégé massive accident in practice earlier in the weekend.

Kurt Kostecki crossed the chequered line in third ahead of Triple Eight teammate Brenton Grove.

Tyler Everingham was fifth, having run second at the start before shooting off at The Chase on Lap 4.

Dylan O’Keeffe, Boys, David Russell, Matt Chahda and Zane Goddard rounded out the 10.

Eggleston Motorsport’s Will Brown had a shocking afternoon, starting with copping a mechanical blag flag for a loose left-front door.

Upon pitting to fix the problem, Brown’s crew elected to refuel – but the process would be considerably delayed to the anger of the usually jovial young gun.

Brown would later clout the wall at The Cutting on Lap 30, putting an end to his day.

Walsh and Adam Marjoram were others who didn’t make the finish, the latter suffering an engine failure that triggered the only Safety Car of the race on Lap 26.

The provisional results extend Fullwood’s points lead to 405, with Randle rising from fourth to be his nearest rival in second.

Super2 will head to Sandown for the penultimate round on November 8-10.
