Declan Fraser has clinched pole for the second Dunlop Series race in Townsville.

Triple Eight driver Fraser, who will race in Bathurst with Craig Lowndes, scored pole by just 0.01s.

Fraser helped himself to a second career ARMOR ALL Pole Position, and second of 2022.

The Queenslander denied Zak Best a Townsville pole sweep by the merest of margins.

"It was more stressful waiting in the car to see if anyone beat the time," said Fraser, who has never won a Super2 race.

"The team did an awesome job over night, we knew where we needed to improve.

"We ended up getting there. Super stoked to get this."

Saturday winner Tyler Everingham qualified third, and missed out on pole by 0.13s.

Fraser set the running late in the session with a 1:14.116s.

He dipped under Matt Chahda's 1:14.484s, which ended up being good enough for fifth.

Points leader Matt Payne, who finished 10th on Saturday, qualified fourth.

Fraser’s teammate Cameron Hill was sixth ahead of Jay Hanson, Jaylyn Robotham and Thomas Maxwell.

Aaron Seton rounded out the top 10.

Super3 points leader Kai Allen scored another pole and will start 13th outright.

The 21-lap Race 2 will start at 1:25pm local time.
