Declan Fraser says he is focused on consistency as he vies for this year's Dunlop Series crown with his new team.

The Queenslander shifted to , Triple Eight Race Engineering from MW Motorsport in the off-season.

Fraser made his debut with Triple Eight at Sydney Motorsport Park in March.

He climbed from 13th to sixth in Race 1, before claiming his maiden Super2 pole.

Fraser then went on to score a podium in just his second Super2 series race for the Banyo-based squad.

He ended the weekend fifth overall, 57 points behind series leader Zak Best.

The 21-year-old finished eighth in his 2021 rookie season, whereas predecessor Broc Feeney took out the title on his way to a promotion Red Bull Ampol Racing.

For Fraser, his recruitment to the title-winning team and Feeney’s vacant seat represents a big leap forward in his career.

“It's massive walking into the Triple Eight workshop and seeing your name on the side of the car,” Fraser told Supercars.com.

“Everyone has been more than welcoming, and every single one percent has been filled before we even get to the track.

“It’s pretty cool and a massive moment in my career, and hopefully a massive step forward.”

Fraser arrived at Triple Eight with mileage in the development category, recording seven top 10 results in 2021.

His rookie campaign included a maiden podium at Sydney Motorsport Park last November.

Stepping into a title-winning car, Fraser said he is embracing the pressure of racing at a higher level.

“I think I put more pressure on myself than the team will put on me,” Fraser said.

“I'm all about just trying to build on my results so far.

“Apart from the crash at Bathurst, I came off a really good end to my season [last year], getting third at Sydney and rookie of the round.

“If we can build on that, and get some race wins, I'm sure that we can finish with a good season.

“I wouldn't be coming to this team if there wasn't an expectation that we could win.

“These guys are showing already that there is that expectation, and we have got all the right things in place to make sure that it can happen.

“Moving forward, we will just keep building on it.

“I can feel the weight, but at the same time, I put more pressure on myself.

“I always want to strive and make sure I'm doing the best that I can do and give back what the team is helping me achieve as well.”
