Declan Fraser has responded to Shane van Gisbergen’s comments regarding his main game future.

The Triple Eight youngster finished eighth in the chaotic Dunlop Series finale at Sandown.

It came after he extended his Super2 points lead with victory in Saturday’s opener.

Van Gisbergen praised Fraser following the win, urging teams to snap him up for next season.

Fraser has been linked to several teams for a main game seat in 2023, but is yet to confirm his plans.

“Firstly, it's pretty cool to have someone like Shane even put my name in the main game seat altogether,” Fraser said.

“I'm sort of just trying to figure out what spaces are available at the moment more than anything.

“If something comes up and a team comes after me, I'd love to have a chat.

“But at the moment, like you said, just focusing on Super2 as much as possible and we really want this year to go as well as possible and just put everything we can into making sure that next year if I do move up, I've got the best shot.

“With the team like Triple Eight behind me I feel like we're more than capable and giving it a really good go this year.”

Fraser has been a model of consistency this season, recording his breakthrough win for Triple Eight in Townsville.

Fraser is now in the box seat to help Triple Eight to a second straight Super2 title.

The Queenslander took the series lead at Reid Park, and is now 114 points clear at the top.

Frasers predecessor and close friend Broc Feeney dominated the competition last season, en route to claiming his maiden Super2 crown.

Feeney’s performance helped the teen earn passage to the main game after winning the 2021 title.

Fraser has travelled to all Supercars events this season to immerse himself in the team.

He is now part of Triple Eight’s Bathurst 1000 wildcard programmes.

Despite being coy over his current prospects, Fraser said he has the full support of Brisbane-based team.

“Triple Eight been completely open and said that if I need any help with anything, then they're more than happy to help.

“To have the support from them behind me it means a lot.

“They've always said to me, their main goal is to get me in the main game seat and wherever that may be, we'll find out.”

Dunlop Super2 Series will return at the Repco Bathurst 1000 across October 6-9.
