2014 Champion Paul Dumbrell was challengedto the chequered flag by young star Cameron Waters in the second V8 Supercars Dunlop Series race at the Clipsal 500.

Dumbrell pounced from the start, and while ENZED PRA's Waters briefly held the lead, the Eggleston driver came through by 0.26sec after18 laps around the Adelaide streets.

The field was bunched up by a late safety car for Gippsland Body Builders GRM's James Golding, after a hard hit at turn four in his Garry Rogers prepared Commodore.

It was a shortsprint to the end but Dumbrell couldn't be caught.

He and Waters are now tied on points after Waters' win yesterday - 288 apiece.

Ant Pedersen and Aaren Russell are tied in third with 231 apiece, after Russell's podium finished in today's run.

Andrew Jones was in fourth, with Pedersen, Garry Jacobson, Jack Le Brocq, Todd Hazelwood, Taz Douglas and Shae Davies completing the top 10.

Chris Pither finished 12th after an error at turn nine dropped him back in the field, and Dan Day was in the wars after being turned around at the final corner, in an accident also involving Paul Morris.

The V8 Supercars Dunlop Series next race in May at Barbagallo Raceway, Western Australia.
