Nissan Altima driver Shae Davies snared pole position for the Watpac Townsville 400 one lap after having his flyer blocked by Josh Kean.

The MW Motorsport driver was seen to be visibly upset in the cockpit before turning the result around and setting the fastest time of the 15-minute session.

Davies’ 1:14.8082s lap was 0.13s ahead of series contender Todd Hazelwood.

Ford duo Garry Jacobson and Anton de Pasquale were third and fourth ahead of Jack Le Brocq.

Richard Muscat grabbed sixth place late in the session ahead of veterans Paul Dumbrell and Jack Perkins.

Macauley Jones and Josh Kean secured the final positions of the top-10.

Brad Jones Racing driver Jack Smith collided with Brodie Kostecki going into Turn 2 early in the session, bringing out the red flag.

The flag forced Macauley Jones to lose his best time while Smith’s team will have their work cut out to make this afternoon’s race.
