Aaron Love’s first season for the Blanchard Racing Team in Super2 will come with Petronas backing.

Love will race a BRT-prepared, Petronas-backed Ford Mustang in this year's second-tier series.

The Super2 debutant finished second in last year's Carrera Cup season with 12 wins in 17 starts, despite missing two events.

Love will race BRT's former main game Mustang, last raced by Tim Slade in 2022.

The #78 Ford will carry the distinctive silver, teal and black of Petronas, which notably sponsors the Mercedes Formula 1 team.

BRT recently completed its first Gen3 Ford Mustang, which will be raced by recruit Todd Hazelwood in 2023.

Love's first Super2 campaign will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.

“I’m really excited about the season kicking off soon and it’s definitely going to be a year where we’re all going to put in 110 per cent,” Love said.

“We’re running a new car for Super2 and the field has a lot of depth with many of the drivers holding a good amount of experience in these cars already so it will be tough, but with BRT being the team that is, I know that we are well prepared.

“Having Petronas Lubricants’ support for the year is definitely a pleasure and really cool thing for the team and myself, especially when we know its history and the success it has had internationally in motorsport."

Love's Petronas Lubricants livery is similar to the colours BRT Co-Principal Tim Blanchard raced with in a 2019 main game wildcard Commodore.

“We are thrilled to welcome Aaron and PETRONAS Lubricants to BRT for 2023," Blanchard said.

"We are excited to be launching our Super 2 program with a rising star in Aaron, supported by a well known brand such as PETRONAS Lubricants.

"This is an important step for BRT and we are looking forward to what we can achieve this year.

Amarpreet Singh Ahuja, PETRONAS Lubricants International Australia Pty Ltd CEO, added: “PETRONAS Lubricants is genuinely excited to participate in the Super2 season as a naming sponsor on the BRT Racing Super2 car.

"This involvement with the Supercars series in Australia is a natural progression of the long term involvement that PETRONAS Lubricants has had with motor racing across the world.

"Having a great young driver like Aaron Love onboard is great and we are confident he will carry his success in the Carrerra Cup in 2022 to the Super2 series this year."

Tickets for the Thrifty Newcastle 500 are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
