Young Evans Motorsport Group Formula Ford racer Chelsea Angelo will get her first taste of V8 power when she takes the wheel of the team's Dunlop Series FG Falcon at Winton on June 25.

With regular driver Kristian Lindbom taking part in a test day as part of the team's preparations for the next Dunlop Series round in Townsville the team will take the opportunity to give Angelo a run in the afternoon as a reward for her exploits in the junior open wheeler class so far this season.

Angelo took a race win in the highly competitive Victorian Formula Ford Championship at Sandown last month and is the current Phillip Island lap record holder for the class.

The Victorian, who turned 17 last Sunday, is understandably looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm unbelievably excited to be able to drive the V8 and I really need to thank Ozstaff and my Evans Motorsport team," Angelo said.

"It's a fantastic opportunity and the team has made it clear there's no expectation on me, so I can just go out, do a few laps and enjoy myself.

"We've done a seat fitting and I'm pretty comfortable in the car so I can't wait to get in and have a run."

Team boss Josh Evans said he was pleased to be able to give his young charge the opportunity.

"Chelsea has done an amazing job in the last six months so we're really happy to be able to give her a drive in the Ozstaff V8," Evans said.

"It's just a bit of experience for her, there's nothing more in the test than giving her a bit of a reward for all the hard work she has been putting in.

"Having the V8 program in the team structure means we can give our young drivers an opportunity to experience the power and feel of that type of car if that's the career path they want to follow."
