Young racer Chelsea Angelo has secured a last minute deal to compete in this weekend's opening round of the V8 Supercar Dunlop Series in Adelaide.

Angelo will team up with Adelaide-based THR Developments in an ex-Jack Daniel's Racing Commodore for her debut meeting in V8 Supercars.

The young Victorian has experience in Formula Ford and Formula Three, winning four of five rounds in the Formula 3 National class in 2015.

Despite the lateness of the agreement to run at the Clipsal 500 meeting, Angelo is hopeful of a good showing.

"It's all come together very late but I'm really happy to be jumping in the deep end at the Clipsal 500," Angelo said.

"Luckily I raced there in Formula 3 last year so I know the track, but I've only had one test day in [a] V8 Supercar about 18 months ago so I'm not expecting too much from the weekend.

"The THR Developments team have been really great in helping us to get the deal done and I'm looking forward to getting over there and working with them all this weekend."

Angelo will take a measured approach to the weekend, taking time to familiarise herself with the team and the car being the priority.

"Luckily there's quite a bit of track time on the Thursday so we will get a fair bit of running in before qualifying and the races," she said.

"Hopefully by the time the races come around I'll be pretty comfortable in the car and ready to go."

At this stage the Clipsal event is a one-off drive for the 18-year old but she indicated her management team would be looking to put together a deal to complete the full season with the THR squad.

"As with everything it all comes down to money, but we'll get through this weekend and then definitely start talking to them about something more long term."
