The 2023 season saw two big Supercars names end multi-year winless streaks, with Mark Winterbottom and David Reynolds both snapping long droughts.

Winterbottom ended a seven-year, 196-race wait for victory when he raced to the win in the Darwin opener in June. In October, Reynolds scored his first win in five years — and 143 starts — when he won on the Gold Coast.

On both occasions, Winterbottom and Reynolds were forced to hold off drivers from the next generation, with Broc Feeney and Brodie Kostecki pushing the veterans to the line.

Come 2024, and there will be six drivers on 100-plus-race winless streaks, led by veterans James Courtney and Tim Slade, who last won in 2016.

James Courtney, 236 races

Courtney is winless in 236 races, dating back to his victory on the Adelaide streets early in 2016. Then racing for the Holden Racing Team, Courtney held off a charging Jamie Whincup to win a thriller.

The 2010 champion, who is off to Blanchard Racing Team in 2024, has taken 13 podiums since, but is still waiting fo return to the top step.

Tim Slade, 227 races

Nulon Racing driver Slade, meanwhile, is 227 races without a win since his Winton sweep in 2016.

Remarkably, Slade, then racing for Brad Jones Racing, claimed his first career win in his 227th start.

Nick Percat, 113 races

Nick Percat is 113 races without a win, dating back to 2020. Then racing for BJR, Percat won two races across the two rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park in the COVID-affected season.

In 2024, the 2011 Bathurst winner moves from Walkinshaw Andretti United to Matt Stone Racing, which won its first race this year.

Andre Heimgartner, 83 races

Of the 16 race winners on the 2024 grid, 13 have won races within the last three years. Andre Heimgartner, now BJR’s spearhead, won his first race at The Bend with Kelly Grove Racing in 2021.

Heimgartner, now winless in 83 races, has been a regular of the podium with BJR since 2022, but has yet to win a race for the Albury squad.

Will Davison (35 races) and Chaz Mostert (29 races) both won multiple races in 2022, but went without wins in 2023 despite bringing home podiums.

The drivers in waiting

There are eight drivers on the grid yet to win a race, with Macauley Jones — who made his full-time debut in 2019 — winless in 174 races.

BJR teammate Bryce Fullwood (129 races) and James Golding (120 races) are also chasing their first wins.

Thomas Randle is winless in 79 starts, but with Tickford Racing on the up, the 2020 Super2 champion could be in the frame to break through in 2024.

There will be three rookies in Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw Andretti United), Aaron Love (Blanchard Racing Team) and Jaxon Evans (Brad Jones Racing). Evans has two Bathurst starts to his name, albeit as a co-driver.

Penrite Racing recruit Richie Stanaway, meanwhile, will restart his full-time career off the back of a Bathurst 1000 victory.
