He was back on ARMOR ALL Pole Position in Townsville, and with a bit of luck will be firing at the front this weekend and take the win he missed out on at Queensland Raceway last year.

Scott McLaughlin has had a troubled second season with Volvo, but the 22-year old Kiwi is still positive and praised his crew for working as hard as possible to have his S60 racing at the pointy end of the field again.

Quick on the streets of Townsville at the last round, more mechanical issues plagued the car, though McLaughlin believed he had the winners in check early on.

He has described this season as character-building and has shown sparks of form when his car has been firing.

However it has been the Prodrive Fords - including the Pepsi Max FG X of young rival Chaz Mostert, who will join him on the Inside Supercars panel this evening - that have dominated the season so far.

"Those Fords are in another league at the moment and I think at the end of the day it's one of those things, everybody has to rise. They're where Triple Eight was a couple of years ago and everyone else's just got to try and get there," McLaughlin told v8supercars.com.au after Townsville.

"I think I'm 100 per cent happy with how we're going at GRM chassis wise, but the engine is suffering a bit. So I think we've just got to keep our heads down and we'll be right. I'm proud of everyone's efforts; I can't thank them enough."

McLaughlin finished fifth in the Championship last year, but this time around sits back in 17th. The points are tight in the 'mid-pack' of the Championship, with 129 points separating 12th to 20th.

Last year at Queensland Raceway, McLaughlin was caught in an incident with good friend Michael Caruso, who tried to pass the Volvo for the lead and managed to push both out of contention. The Volvo star will be hoping to stand on the top step this time around, at a circuit where he claimed a win in his first year with GRM.

Send your questions through to McLaughlin now, who will join the chat at 12pm AEST before being part of the Inside Supercars panel this evening at 7.30pm AEST on FOX SPORTS 506.
