Jake and Kurt Kostecki will continue their Bathurst legacy together in 2022, albeit with a different team.

Last year, the Kosteckis became just the fifth set of brothers this century to contest the Bathurst 1000 together.

Jake was paired by older brother Kurt in a Matt Stone Racing Commodore last December.

They finished 13th despite Jake crashing at Forrest’s Elbow.

Since 2000, the only brother Bathurst combinations have been Neal/Rick Bates, Rick/Todd Kelly, Will/Alex Davison and Aaren/Drew Russell.

The Kellys finished second in 2006, while the Davisons are again sharing a car this year.

This year, the Kosteckis will race Jake’s TRADIE Tickford Mustang.

While attention will be on the Davisons, the Kosteckis are armed with a solid team and enduro podium machinery.

The chassis, PRA 1621, was carried to the Sandown 500 podium in 2019 by Lee Holdsworth and Thomas Randle.

Tickford has finished second in the last two Bathursts courtesy of Cam Waters, who also scored pole in 2020.

David and Geoff Brabham are the only brothers in history to have won the Great Race together.

In 1997, the Brabhams won the Super Tourer race after initial winners Craig Baird/Paul Morris were disqualified.

A strong pre-Bathurst Winton test by Kurt, 24, has younger brother Jake looking to buy a ticket to the final stint.

The Kosteckis first raced together last year

Jake is 22nd overall, but is coming off a solid top 10 finish last time out in New Zealand.

“I’m pumped to get to Bathurst, obviously it’s our biggest race of the year and a massive event,” Jake, 22, said.

"Racing with Kurt is going to be awesome.

“He's been really quick in testing and obviously we know how each other drives.

“We want the same things out of the car which is good.

"It’s a long race but we’ll have a fast car, so it’ll just be about being up the front near the end and giving it our best when it counts.

"I can’t wait.”

Cars will hit the track at Mount Panorama for Practice 1 on Thursday.

Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
