Reigning Supercars champ Will Brown to contest NASCAR Chicago race
Chicago NASCAR Cup Series race televised live on Fox, Kayo on Monday (AEST)
2025 Supercars season continues in Townsville on July 11-13
In a win for Aussie motorsport fans, Will Brown's NASCAR Cup Series start in Chicago will be televised on Fox Sports and Kayo.
The Supercars champion will swap his Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet for a Kaulig Racing-prepared Cup Series Camaro at this weekend's Grant Park 165 on the streets of Chicago.
Shane van Gisbergen has backed his former rival to be "surprise" in the race, and the NASCAR world is listening.
According to NASCAR.com, Brown’s odds to win the Grant Park 165 "were getting high — up to +1800 at midweek on DraftKings’ sheet — so bettors clearly think there is some chance for Supercars-ringer lightning to strike twice."
Fresh off the back of victory in Mexico City, Trackhouse Racing driver van Gisbergen is the favourite. He won the inaugural Chicago race and also won last year's Xfinity Series race. Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman won the 2024 Cup race.
2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott has seven road course wins to his name, and arrives in Chicago off the back of victory in Atlanta. Toyota drivers Christopher Bell (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Tyler Reddick (23XI Racing) have three road course wins apiece.
Brown and van Gisbergen aren't the only Supercars personalities in action, with 2015 Gold Coast winner and 2019 Bathurst podium-finisher Jack Perkins joining the Xfinity Series field.
Current Blanchard Racing Team co-driver Perkins joins Joe Gibbs Racing in the #19 Toyota Supra. Perkins will go head-to-head with van Gisbergen, who is undertaking double duty.
The Xfinity race, the Loop 110, is scheduled for Sunday, July 6 at 6:40am AEST. The Grant Park 165 is scheduled for Monday, July 7 at 4:25am AEST.
Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports will have coverage of both Chicago races, with NASCAR Xfinity Series coverage from 5:30am AEST on Sunday July 6. Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports will have coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series race from 3:30am AEST on Monday July 7. Neither practice nor qualifying will be broadcast live on Fox Sports or Kayo Sports.
