International team GruppeM Racing has confirmed its entry in next year's LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.

GruppeM will enter a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for its third 12 Hour campaign next February.

The Hong Kong-flagged, German-based team made its 12 Hour debut in 2019.

The car was raced to third by Maximilian Buhk, Maximilian Götz and Raffaele Marciello.

The GruppeM entry led 34 laps and was in the leading group of cars fighting for the outright victory in the closing stages.

The car had started from pole position after after R-Motorsport Aston Martin's Jake Dennis was excluded from the Shootout.

GruppeM returned in 2020 and qualified third.

Marciello, Buhk and Felipe Fraga were in contention before a dramatic end to the team's day.

The #999 was in the fight in 2019

The car crossed the line in second, but was later penalised 30 seconds for failing to turn the engine off in its late stop.

The penalty dropped the #999 from second to sixth.

GruppeM recently raced in the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Dramas in the race forced both cars out despite GruppeM locking out the front row.

The team will confirm its driver line-up in due course.

"GruppeM were one of the first international teams to lodge an entry this year, it's exciting to have them back," Shane Rudzis, Bathurst 12 Hour Event Director, said.

"In 2019 and 2020 they proved that they are one of the most competitive teams to tackle the Mountain and you're never in doubt that they will be giving everything to win.

"They've crossed the line inside the top three on the road on both occasions they have competed which is an incredible strike rate.

"Watching them aim for a Bathurst victory and taking on great teams from here and abroad will be a big story of the race this year."
