Heavyweights lead the way in Practice 5

Audi, Porsche and Mercedes filled the top three positions in a red flag-affected Practice 5.

Markus Winkelhock (#777 Audi) kept Audi at the top with a 2:03.133s.

Winkelhock's mid-session speed ensured Audi has topped all five practice sessions so far.

Ben Barker, who is sharing with Brenton and Stephen Grove, shot the #4 Porsche into second ahead of Jules Gounon (#75 Mercedes-AMG).

The #24 Audi was fourth all told thanks to an early 2:03.972s from David Reynolds.

The top four cars were covered by 0.838s, with Broc Feeney helping the #888 Mercedes-AMG to fifth.

Heavy fog enveloped the base of Mount Panorama, although it didn't affect the session run time.

The session, however, was affected by two stoppages, the second of which cut the session short.

The second stoppage was triggered following an accident across the top of the Mountain for Mark Rosser.

Rosser incurred damage to the #17 Audi, which is facing a race against time to be repaired for Practice 6.

The session ran without two entries, one of which was being loaded onto a truck as the session began.

It emerged from pit lane that the #91 Craft-Bamboo Mercedes-AMG will be taken into town for an engine change.

The Hong Kong squad discovered an issue overnight, prompting the change.

The #91 was helped into third in Friday night practice by Maro Engel.

The #47 Audi was also absent due to ongoing repairs following Theo Koundouris' Practice 3 crash.

The team enlisted a spare chassis from Melbourne to help the team return the entry to the track.

Cars will return to the track for Practice 6 at 10:00am local time.

Two-part qualifying will follow at 1:20pm, followed by the Pirelli Shootout.
