Heartbreak at Hungaroring: Pro Series Race 6 highlights

Victory at the Hungaroring has helped Dayne Warren clinch a second straight Supercars Eseries title.

Warren raced to his fifth win of the 2021 Cash Converters Supercars Eseries season.

The win ensured Walkinshaw Andretti United also won its third straight Supercars Eseries title.

As he was at the Red Bull Ring, Long Beach, Road America and Phillip Island, Warren was untroubled from Swyftx Pole Position.

Warren, who was celebrating his 22nd birthday on Wednesday, only had to finish ninth to clinch the title.

Jake Burton and Jarrad Filsell were the only drivers with a mathematical chance to win the title.

However, Erebus Motorsport driver Filsell - who won last week’s Bathurst enduro with Brodie Kostecki - was wiped out at Turn 2 on the opening lap.

Warren led away from pole despite a stern challenge by Madison Down, but the title fight took an early twist following Filsell’s accident.

A dive from Emily Jones sent Ryan Wood into Filsell, who launched from eighth.

Filsell was tipped into a series of rolls and was forced into pit lane with heavy damage.

It did little to deter Warren, who opened up a two-second lead over Down before he stopped on lap 5.

Down stayed out, with Jackson Souslin-Harlow and Burton following Warren in.

Souslin-Harlow enjoyed a quicker stop, but Warren retained his effective lead, albeit by just 0.6s.

Down stopped on the following lap, and rejoined behind Brad Jones Racing teammates Souslin-Harlow and Burton.

Warren extended his lead to 0.9s by lap 8, and had doubled the margin when he commenced the final lap.

Souslin-Harlow and Down filled out the podium ahead of Burton, who clinched second overall ahead of Souslin-Harlow.

Filsell was fourth overall ahead of Down in the points standings.

The end margin between Warren and Burton was 99 points.

Warren’s brother Ethan was fifth for Tickford Racing, ahead of Andrew Gilliam, Jordan Caruso, Ethan Grigg-Gault, Richard Hamstead and Fawzan Al-Nabi.
