BP Supercars All Stars Eseries Highlights: Round 3

The opening race saw Shane Van Gisbergen take an early lead after starting on pole alongside Brodie Kostecki.

Van Gisbergen managed to stay in front, taking line honours ahead of Brodie Kostecki in 2nd, Anton De Pasquale in 3rd and Kostecki’s Super2 wildcard counterpart, Thomas Randle in 4th place.

In race 9, a reverse grid format saw the race 8 back end finishers take up positions at the front, with Fabian Coulthard in pole position. Coulthard led the race from start to finish, crossing the line first with Waters, Will Davison and McLaughlin rounding out the top 4.

Race 10 winner McLaughlin said he enjoyed battling up and coming Super2 driver Kostecki, who narrowly missed glory in the final race of the evening.

“It was a good battle, I had so much fun

“Brodie’s been quick all week - I knew I was going to have my work cut out there.”

Walking away with two second place finishes for the night, Kostecki heaped praise on the virtual series, as the ongoing Coronavirus situation resulted in delays to on track racing.

“I’m glad it’s entertaining to watch because it’s really good to race with Shane and Scotty – we do this a bit when we have the time and we’ve been wanting a race like this so it was great to have it play out the way it did.

“It was great to be a part of it,” he added.

After round 3 of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries, McLaughlin is on top with 759 points; 86 points ahead of Waters, with van Gisbergen rounding out the top three on 659 points.
