BP Supercars All Stars Eseries Round 3 Sneak Peek

Two Super2 drivers will take to their sims on Wednesday, keen to make their mark in the third week of Supercars virtual racing.

After two rounds of watching Virgin Australia Supercars Championship drivers do battle, Brodie Kostecki, the Penrite Racing co-driver of another favourite, Anton De Pasquale, will now join the grid for round three at Mount Panorama as a wildcard.

Brodie, a well known sim racer, made headlines as a Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 wildcard last year, when lap fumes forced him from the Commodore he and cousins Jake and Kurt Kostecki built for the PIRTEK Enduro Cup campaign.

"I can’t wait to get my first start in the BP All Stars Eseries. It should be a wild one at Bathurst. It’s a really different format to what the fans are used to and having the first Top Ten Shootout will make it exciting to watch. I can’t wait to see what chaos ensues and hopefully we can stay out of it.

"I have been doing a bit behind the scenes with Supercars and Penrite Racing since the series started. Supercars has done an amazing job broadcasting the racing. It’s been really fun to watch and see how much they’ve achieved in such a short amount of time, so kudos to them.

"I grew up sim racing. It’s always been a part of my racing resume, so I’m pretty comfortable jumping back in, though I haven’t actually had a sim for about four years now. A lot of drivers have only just started getting on sims for the first time, so I consider myself pretty lucky in that department as I have had a fair bit of experience racing in the past so that should carry me on through. I’ve been practising for a few weeks now and the speed is still there," he said.

He will go from rookie to expert on Wednesday night and will be among the favourites to claim victory in his yet-to-be announced livery.

A second Dunlop Super2 frontrunner and 2018 Mike Kable Young Gun Award Winner, Thomas Randle, will also feature as a wildcard.

Randle is Nick Percat’s 2020 PIRTEK Enduro Cup co-driver and earlier this year was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 23.

Following a medical clearance, Randle showed it didn’t slow him down, claiming the first ARMOR ALL Pole Position of the Dunlop Super2 season and the Sunday race win.

With the season on hold, Randle sits just two points behind Kostecki on the leaderboard.Randle will also race in a yet to be announced livery, with details to be released later this week.

“I’m really excited to be making my Eseries debut on Wednesday.

“It’s great to be able to be mixing it with the main game guys again. I’ve been following the Eseries very closely and have been trying to do as many laps on the simulator as possible in preparation for Wednesday.

“In this unprecedented time it’s fantastic that myself and Brodie are able to showcase our sim driving skills against the Supercars drivers all live on Fox Sports and online,” he said.

Dunlop’s Senior Brand / Marketing Manager, Tony Kiernan, said it was exciting to see Super2 drivers join the regular field of Supercars drivers for the remainder of the Eseries.

“We’re thrilled to see these two quality Dunlop Super2 drivers join the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries this Wednesday night. We know that both Brodie and Randall are fine young performers on track, and we have a sneaking suspicion that their gaming experience will place them in good stead when they go up against the star-studded international field!

“We’re also looking forward to seeing a range of other Super2 drivers join the series each week where they’re sure to fly the flag for the Dunlop Super2 category on the Eseries stage,” he said.

The third round of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries will see drivers return, virtually, to Australia’s favourite circuit, Mount Panorama.

Qualifying for the third round will begin on Wednesday night at 6:00pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7:00pm.

From 7:00pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play. Online fans from around the globe can watch races via Supercars’ Facebook Page and Supercars’ Teams Facebook Pages.
