Class of 2022: The numbers behind the names
The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship was officially launched on Tuesday ahead of this weekend's Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.
All 25 drivers were present at the launch function, which was held at White Bay Cruise Terminal in Sydney.
Ahead of the new season, Supercars.com looks at the combined statistics of the star-studded 2022 grid.
There are three former champions on the grid, combining for four drivers' titles.
Last year's champion Shane van Gisbergen also won in 2016; James Courtney and Mark Winterbottom won in 2010 and 2015 respectively.
Van Gisbergen also leads the wins list of active drivers with 54, with the 2022 grid featuring 15 race winners.
The 15 winners combine for 178 race victories, with van Gisbergen representing 30 per cent of that haul.
There are also 15 pole winners on the grid, with van Gisbergen again leading the way of active drivers with 38 pole positions.
The 25 drivers combine for 4866 race starts, down on the 5077 from last season following Jamie Whincup's retirement.
Winterbottom (559 starts) and Courtney (494) lead the way, with Whincup's replacement Broc Feeney the least-experienced driver with two starts.
Van Gisbergen dominated 2021
There are six former Bathurst 1000 winners on the grid, combining for 11 wins.
Will Davison and Chaz Mostert are the only multiple Bathurst winners with two each.
Winterbottom, van Gisbergen, David Reynolds and Nick Percat are all one-time Great Race winners.
Courtney, who will turn 42 in June, is the oldest driver on the grid. He is a whopping 22 years older than Feeney, who will turn 20 in October.
Cars will hit the track on Friday for opening practice of the Repco Mt Panorama 500. Tickets are on sale now.
