Erebus Motorsport driver Will Brown completed his first test laps of 2022 on Tuesday, aboard the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Gen3 prototype.

Brown attended the second of four test days of the Camaro and the Ford Mustang GT Gen3 prototypes at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday.

Along with new Red Bull Ampol Racing recruit Broc Feeney, Brown drove the Gen3 Camaro for the first time since the addition of suspension upgrades and anti-roll bars.

Following Zane Goddard steering both the Mustang and Camaro on Monday, Supercars Gen3 project team focussed on improving the balance of the Camaro prototype on Tuesday.

Both Feeney and Brown completed longer stints in the Chevrolet machine, with the 2021 Dunlop Super2 Series Champion running for the majority of the morning.

Brown took the wheel for the afternoon session, completing race runs around the Ipswich circuit.

The young driver was buoyed by the opportunity to complete laps ahead of the season-opening Repco Newcastle 5000 on March 4.

“It’s just great to be back in the car,” Brown told Supercars.com.

“It’s been a pretty short break, but it’s just so great to be back in the car and testing.

Brown celebrates with maiden burnout

“We are here to get miles on the cars, as it’s pretty early stages in testing them.

“They look awesome and they sound awesome, I can't wait to drive on in 2023.”

Brown finished eighth overall in his first full-time season for Erebus, one position ahead of teammate Brodie Kostecki.

The Queenslander scored his first podium, pole and win in Sydney, and ended the 2021 season with provisional pole at Mount Panorama.

The 23-year-old is looking to build on his stellar run in 2022.

“The goal for 2022 is to improve on what we were doing in 2021,” Brown continued.

“I think top five in the championship would be awesome.

“As a team, we aren’t changing our mindset too much, we are just getting out there and going racing again.

“There’s a lot of excitement around the team and we are having fun, I’m sure the results, like the end of the year, we had an awesome end to the year.

“If we keep rolling on that we will have a great year.

“I think this year, there’s still an amount of pressure, you’ve had a good year so you have to improve on that.

“I’m not too stressed but the pressure is probably always there.”

The prototypes will complete another two days of testing next week, with regular test days planned throughout 2022.

Both test days are open for public viewing at Queensland Raceway.

The Gen3 Camaro and Mustang will make their racing debut in the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship.

On-track exhibitions of the Gen3 cars will be carried out at Supercars events throughout this year.

The 13-event 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle in March. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
