Woodstock Highlights - Practice 3 Winton

Supercars champion Mark Winterbottom has reset the lap record this morning in practice, setting a 1min19.0469 in the final 15-minute run before qualifying at the Woodstock Winton SuperSprint.

And he believes the number will be lowered again, with ARMOR ALL Pole Position set to be in the ‘18s’ with 26 Supercars on soft tyres at the resurfaced circuit.

Winterbottom finished 12th overall yesterday but has found something overnight in his Bottle-O Ford Falcon FG X.

“It was a big change from yesterday – I hated the car yesterday,” Winterbottom said.

“It’s a credit to the guys, they worked hard overnight and the car feels really nice … I think there’s more in it.

“When the other boys get serious I think the times will really tumble.”

The session ran smoothly this morning with Scott Pye 0.1993sec behind in second.

DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard was third, followed by Scott McLaughlin and Chris Pither putting in another solid effort in the Super Black Racing Falcon.

Nick Percat’s LDM Commodore didn’t run in the session after a brand new engine developed a vibration and lost power. The team has decided to change the engine, which means he will miss qualifying and is set to start Race 10 from the back of the grid.
