David Wall will join Dick Johnson Racing for 2014, along with sponsors Wilson Security and Payce Consolidated.

A new long-term deal sees Wilson Security assume full naming rights, coupled with primary naming rights sponsorship over both of the teams’ entries – meaning the team becomes “Wilson Security Racing” from January 1.

In early 2013 Wilson Security committed a sponsorship deal with DJR primarily focused on ensuring the iconic team was on the grid for the Clipsal 500 season opener.

As the year progressed DJR’s on-track results and off-track focus on integration led Wilson Security to continue its support for the remainder of the year.

Wilson Security CEO John McMellan said the team had been outstanding in 2013.

“DJR has done an outstanding job this year in working with us both on and off the track and we are delighted to not only continue this relationship but to expand and consolidate it significantly in 2014,” McMellan said.

“DJR has an incredibly strong brand and were able to build a differentiated program that really consolidated a number of components of our current program and we look forward to revealing these in due course.”

Payce Consolidated, one of Australia’s leading property groups, will also run across both cars. Payce has a long history of supporting Australian motorsport.

“Key components of all of our development projects are focused around quality, people and community,” Payce chairman Brian Boyd stated.

“Surprisingly, racing and DJR as a family business in particular also embodies these principles with Payce and DJR also having a strong commitment to the Queensland community.”

Finally, after the news DJR had purchased Paul Morris’ REC and secured Scott Pye as a driver, David Wall will pilot the second car.

Wall stepped up full-time into the category last year and this season recorded some career-best results. At Brad Jones Racing, Wall’s Commodore was Wilson Security-backed.

Dick Johnson believes in both drivers, and feels the team is headed for a strong future.

“John (McMellan) has been a fantastic sponsor for DJR this year and I believe we have rewarded his early season vision to get involved with us,” Johnson said.

“Payce also has a long association with motorsport and we welcome Brian Boyd as a key partner in the coming season’s racing.

“On the driver front we have two very talented young guys. I have said from the outset of 2013 that this is where our future lies…

We have watched David Wall, as we do all the young guys, and I have been impressed with how he keeps qualifying in very strong positions. It may well be the hardest part of today’s Championship.”

Johnson is confident with the support of newly-signed sporting director Campbell Little, the team is back on track to being a V8 Supercars contender.

Wall believes this is the next step in his racing career.

“I have now had two seasons with BJR with a small and very dedicated crew but I now need to take the next step and there could be no better opportunity for me than joining a two car team at DJR,” he said.

“I acknowledge the expectation for me to take the next step in my overall performance as part of it. I feel genuinely privileged to have such an opportunity.”

The Wilson Security Racing Team will launch its new colours and driver line up at the official V8 Supercars Test Day on February 15, 2014, at Sydney Motorsport Park.
