Jamie Whincup has shared his delight in topping the final Ultimate Speed Comparison at Albert Park.

Whincup was back behind the wheel of a Supercar last weekend as part of the speed comparison held during the Australian Grand Prix.

The Triple Eight team boss took part in a series of single-lap showdowns at the Melbourne circuit.

The comparison sees drivers complete one lap of the Albert Park circuit from a staggered start, with the aim of all three reaching the finish line at the same time.

Whincup, aboard a Red Bull Ampol Racing Commodore, went head-to-head with a Toyota GR Yaris rally car and a Porsche Taycan Turbo S road car.

Australian rally champion Harry Bates drove the GR Yaris, while 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner Luke Youlden steered the Taycan.

Whincup, the most recent Supercars Hall of Fame inductee, won Saturday’s final comparison by a car length.

Bates was the first to launch, with Youlden following 15 seconds later.

Whincup was the last to be released, giving the Yaris and Porsche a 32-second head-start.

Ultimate Speed Comparisons have become a regular feature at Albert Park.

Previous demonstrations have featured Supercars Hall of Famers such as Larry Perkins and Allan Moffat.

Seven-time champion Whincup, who drove the updated Gen3 Camaro prototype last month, shared his delight to return to the cockpit with fans on social media.

"Got the win by a car length," Whincup posted.

It comes after Formula 1 star Sergio Perez sampled the Supercar at Albert Park on Thursday.

The two-time Grand Prix winner was shown the ropes of a Supercar by Broc Feeney.

Perez would finish second behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in Sunday's Grand Prix.

Whincup's star driver Shane van Gisbergen extended his series lead with overall victory at Albert Park.

Van Gisbergen won two races, with Chaz Mostert winning the other two.

The 2022 Supercars season will resume in Perth later this month.
