The pole sitting #1 Red Bull racer has recorded the fastest time in this morning's final run before 500km at Sandown Raceway.

Jamie Whincup was on top for the majority of the 20-minute session - recording a best 1min08.9283sec lap.

He and Paul Dumbrell are gunning for three in a row at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 - but right on their tails was the Pepsi Max Crew #5 of Mark Winterbottom and Steve Owen, 0.0289sec behind. The Prodrive pair will start alongside car #1 on the grid this afternoon.

Showing pace behind them was Sebastien Bourdais/Lee Holdsworth, Jonathon Webb/Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin/Alex Premat.

Teams used for final pit stop practice and to validate changes made overnight.

The red flag appeared early on the session for Dale Wood's beached GB Galvanizing Commodore at Dandenong Road.

Craig Lowndes/Steven Richards will start 23rd after getting mixed up with Jack Perkins during yesterday's second race, to set the grid. The pair managed to end the warm up 11th.

The V8 Supercars will line up on the grid this afternoon at 2pm for the Wilson Security Sandown 500.
