Whincup quickest in P2

All drivers were on track for the day’ssecond Practice session and Red Bull Racing Australia’s Jamie Whincup wasquickest, ahead of Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaughlin.

Early in the session, Coulthard reportedissues with the car, but still managed to get within 0.0045sec of Whincup, witha 56.3757sec.

The other two Brad Jones Racing cars ofJason Bright and David Wall were fourth and fifth in the session.

Coulthard reported problems with the car atthe beginning of P2, saying over the radio it felt like he was a cylinder down.However, he still managed second and believes the car may be fixed.

“They’re still trying to work out what itis, we’re not 100 percent sure,” he said after the session.

“I think they’ve fixed whatever it was – tobe honest I hopped out the car and did my notes, everything like that, so Ihaven’t found out exactly what the drama was.

“But as long as it’s gone and stays away I’mhappy.”

The weekend’s format means there’s anotherPractice session to perfect the car tomorrow morning before the first of Perth’sthree races.

With just 40 minutes between sessions itwas a flurry in pit lane after P2.

“It’s pretty weird to think we’re all doneby 1.30pm this afternoon – we may be able to go to the beach? I’m joking, we’vegot plenty of stuff on,” Coulthard said.

“It doesn’t matter (the extra session tomorrow),I think everyone’s in the same boat and as long as everyone’s in the same boatit’s pretty fair.”

The third and final Practice session includingall drivers will begin shortly.
