Ways to Follow the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland
Virgin Australia Supercars Championship
By V8 Supercars
It's a quick break and the V8 Supercars are back on-track for a grueling 500km around the Townsville streets.
Championship leader Mark Winterbottom came out on top in Darwin, even when it looked as if the race would not fall in his favour.
But the Red Bulls are coming, and even though Frosty's lead over Craig Lowndes has extended, he and teammate Jamie Whincup are second and third on the ladder, waiting to pounce if there's any fault from the Ford driver and team.
Throw in the Holden Racing Team, who had an emphatic 1-2 victory at the event on Sunday last year, and James Courtney fifth in the points; Fabian Coulthard looking to bounce back after a tough run in the Top End and Scott McLaughlin's speedyVolvo - and you sure have some racing on your hands!
It's two 125km races on Saturday with the big 250km run on Sunday for double points, all run on the hard Dunlop tyre.
Can Winterbottom creep further ahead? Can Red Bull reign in the leader at what is a stellar track for Whincup but poor for Lowndes? Can HRT score another win? Or will it be a new face on the top step this time round?
Don't miss a minute of the action from the Castrol Townsville 500 -Driven by TAFE Queensland this weekend, as we hit the mid-point of the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship.
