Walkinshaw Andretti United will this weekend record its 900th ATCC/Supercars race start.

The team made its championship debut under the Holden Racing Team banner in 1990.

Win Percy was the team's sole driver when HRT rolled out at Amaroo Park in Sydney.

To date, the team has won six drivers' titles and eight Bathurst 1000s.

The eighth Bathurst win came last December under the current WAU banner thanks to Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth.

The team has made all 899 starts with Holden Commodore machinery, but will switch to Ford in 2023.

WAU will race Mustangs when the Gen3 era commences next year, with Mostert and Percat both now having steered the car.

The team has been a loyal servant of General Motors since Tom Walkinshaw Racing launched the team 32 years ago.

However, factory Holden backing and the HRT shifted to Triple Eight in 2017.

WAU becomes just the second team after Dick Johnson Racing to bring up 900 races.

DJR hit the milestone in 2019, and will record 1000 race starts at this year's Repco Bathurst 1000.

Race 1: Amaroo Park 1990

HRT debuted at Sydney's Amaroo Park, and Briton Percy finished 14th. He later finished eighth in the championship despite missing the Mallala round.

The team hit its strides at Mount Panorama, Percy sensationally winning the Bathurst 1000 with Allan Grice.

Race 100: Calder Park 1996, Race 3

Craig Lowndes won all before him in 1996, winning a then-record 16 races, the championship, and the Sandown-Bathurst double.

HRT brought up 100 races at Calder, with Lowndes seventh behind Peter Brock (fifth).

Race 200: Oran Park 1999, Race 2

HRT brought up 200 races at Oran Park in 1999, with Lowndes winning his third title in four years.

Skaife replaced Brock at the team and led Lowndes in all three races.

Race 300: Winton 2003

The team recorded 300 races at Winton in 2003, with Skaife finishing sixth.

The 2003 season brought an end to HRT's dominance, with Lowndes and Skaife winning all titles bar one between 1996 and 2002.

Todd Kelly was disqualified for breaching pit window rules and resulting in a disqualification.

Skaife took ownership of the team shortly after the event.

Race 400: Symmons Plains 2006, Race 2

HRT endured a tough season in 2006, when it recorded its 400th race.

The milestone came at Symmons Plains, but Kelly's fourth place was the highlight as Skaife retired.

Race 500: Gold Coast 2009, Race 1

Race No. 500 came in 2009 at Surfers Paradise after Garth Tander and Will Davison won both enduros.

Skaife retired at the end of 2008, and Davison and Tander finished second and third.

Tander won the team's 500th race, wth Davison on the podium in third.

Race 600: Pukekohe 2013, Race 4

Tander celebrated the team's 600th race with a podium at Pukekohe, finishing second to Jason Bright.

The 2013 season was the first of the Car of the Future era, with James Courtney sixth in the race.

Race 700: Homebush 2015, Race 2

The team recorded start No. 700 at Sydney Olympic Park at the end of the tough 2015 season.

Courtney won races in Adelaide and the Gold Coast, but Tander missed out.

Courtney and Tander were fourth and 12th respectively in the Sydney race.

Race 800: Winton 2019, Race 1

The WAU banner arrived in 2018, and Scott Pye won a race at Albert Park.

A tough 2019 season followed, highlighted by a Bathurst podium for Courtney and Jack Perkins.

Start No. 800 came at Winton; Courtney was fourth, and Pye 10th.

Race 900: Sandown 2022, Race 1

The Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint opener will be WAU's 900th race.

Mostert has won four races already this season, which has been a rocks and diamonds campaign for the team.

Recruit Nick Percat has yet to score a podium, but has turned a corner of late following a mid-season engineer change.

Cars will hit the track at Sandown on Friday. Purchase your tickets now.
