Walkinshaw Andretti United has released Lee Holdsworth from the final year of his co-driving contract as he moves to Grove Racing.

Holdsworth was confirmed as David Reynolds' teammate at Grove Racing in 2022 on Friday.

It comes less than a fortnight after Holdsworth combined with Chaz Mostert to deliver a stirring Bathurst victory for WAU.

It was Holdsworth's first Bathurst win in 18 attempts, coming in a year he missed out on a full-time drive.

Holdsworth was the victim of Tickford Racing's downscaling to three cars in 2021, and WAU swooped to sign the veteran.

Mostert and Holdsworth were a cut above at Mount Panorama, racing from pole and finishing in the top three in every session.

"While it’s certainly disappointing not to have Lee with us in 2022, we are rapt that he gets another full time opportunity on the grid next year, and we wouldn't want to stand in the way of that," WAU Team Principal Bruce Stewart said.

"He certainly showed his talent in 2021, so is very deserving of this opportunity, and we look forward to competing against him full time next year.

"No one will forgot what he and Chaz were able to do at Bathurst, helping us bring the Peter Brock Trophy back to Clayton.

"We hope that we see him back in the WAU family once again in the future."

Mostert will be joined by Nick Percat in WAU's full-time ranks in 2022, with the latter arriving from Brad Jones Racing.

Bryce Fullwood has moved from WAU to BJR in an effective swap with Percat.

WAU will announce its 2022 co-driver line-up in the new year.

The 13-event 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next year. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

The 13-round draft calendar was released during the Repco Bathurst 1000 weekend.
